It’s a lot easier to adopt from poorer countries and the biological parents are less likely to be involved. In the U.S. you tend to either have to adopt kids with disabilities, those from foster homes or have an open adoption. I can see why some might prefer to go overseas - you get your own kid with fewer strings…
