Watch Twin Peaks! He's really lovely playing a loving father in that one.

Yeah, someone I know has been complaining about how broke he is. In the past three months, he got a SCUBA license, SCUBA gear, went on a trip to the Philippines to go diving, and went to Spain over the Thanksgiving holiday.

I hate the Logan stuff so much, and the "I forgot Paul" bits don't land for me at all.

Rowling originally wanted Gilliam to do the films, but the studio wouldn't allow it.

That mustache felt like a "fuck you" to the audience to me. I cannot believe it was approved. I choose to believe Depp demanded it.

There's an accent.

And that fucking mustache.

Oh, yeah. What the fuck is up with that?

Ah yeah I hadn't thought of it but he's basically playing a dime store Matt Smith.

Not really!

Less surprising than you'd think, really.

Exactly what happens here. The problems are so specific that it feels like Rowling just had trouble with the form. On the other hand, it does mean these could get better as she improves.

This film also alludes to wizards playing a role in WWI. Newt's brother is referred to as "the war hero," and he mentions that he worked with dragons on the Eastern Front.

I still enjoy the newspaper thing he does, and he really seem to as well.

Honestly I think she should've just wrote this as a book series first. I think a lot of the complaints of it not feeling like a better realized world is because she just wrote a screenplay where usually she gets to fill in the fringes in the books.

I couldn't get over the Mordecai like mustache.

The Obscura stuff felt like it should've been a foil to the original series and maybe more than just a plot point. The idea of an orphan boy repressing his powers and lashing out ties nicely into both Potter and Voldemort, but it's not given much beyond being the reason for the Greatest Evil CGI Cloud in every movie.

^^^ That the above is sincere commentary on what just happened in this election is fucking bonkers. God.

Turned out Trump was given debate questions in the primary too, though, so good stuff all around imo.
