I hate to break it to you guys but not only is this purple Ron Perlman perhaps the most laughably lame excuse of a design for a “villain” ever (galactic badass? HA!) but the CGI looks as shitty as anything circa 1999.

There’s lip-service paid to it, but the movie never really follows through thematically.

I’m going to throw a bit of a counterpoint to all the love given to Winter Soldier as somehow a direct descendant of the paranoid thrillers of the 1970s. It’s obviously reaching for that (Redford’s casting is the big flag), and superficially convinced me on a first, immersive cinematic viewing.

Seriously, this is what happened to a lot of people, myself included.

Okay so here’s what actually happened: The movie was announced, and more people decided to read the source material. The source material is absolute trash and so more people are going to hate it and voice their opinions.

“The book ends with (slight spoiler) a record of Halliday explicitly warning people not to repeat his mistakes, and withdraw into entertainment to avoid a world he was too meek to face.”

Yeah, but that’s kind of like ending The Expendables with a coda in which Stallone says violence is not the answer to anyone’s

Here’s hoping he also narrates The Pee Tape when that eventually leaks (pun intended)
