The Aventinus Adaptation?

I want more context on the update. On its face, it looks really good. Those are quality wages that clock in well above minimum for Massachusetts. However, considering they were previously paying retail employees even $8/hour (which is below the Mass minimum of $11, by the way, unless that was a product of the tipped

This is the big one, yes. In a tipped position, like waitstaff, $5/hour is actually above minimum and not a half-bad base pay at all, per industry standards (whether industry standards are where they should be is another argument). But no one working the tap counter filling growlers is getting tipped.

I think we’re on the same side here.

Never let facts get in the way of a subpar comment.

But will they cut Natan Peterman next?

It was also a massive problem because they were planning on paying their retail counter employers as tipped employees, when there can be no real expectation of consistent tips at a retail counter, as opposed to waiting tables or tending bar in a restaurant setting.

And here, we have someone who reads a whole well-written column about why this is not “needlessly pedantic”, and then makes a comment about how it is needlessly pedantic.

By that definition, it’s a stepping stone that only certain people have the privilege and ability to utilize, regardless of actual aptitude or talent. This is a bad take.

TIL that Sambo is also a racist term.

Came for this. Man looks awfully doughy for an elite boxer.

This always makes me sad. I enjoyed my time as an SB Nation blogger and site manager, and in fact could still write on the site I founded if I wanted to. I really do think that I have been sort of sequestered off in a different community since I wasn’t writing for the big-traffic sports like football or baseball.

Ehhhh....I had the same attitude when the change was announced, but I was a smug Android user, and was unaffected. Then, I lost my Pixel, and it was serendipitously replaced (free!!!) with a Pixel 2, which has no headphone jack.

Things must be very different dependent upon the sport/league being covered. I’ve been dialed into the soccer sport umbrella (MLS) for years now, and while there weren’t all of these different “official” designations, we basically had “trusted access users” for, well, forever.

I can’t fault the kid for still wanting to play. I’m glad he wasn’t allowed to, but it’s a big game and it’s what he loves. Especially at that age, human beings tend not to make the best emotional decisions. Hence why the concussion protocols are supposed to save them from themselves, so to speak. Theoretically.

How many Packers fans had cheddar-induced coronaries?

Is he really one of the most well-respected NBA reporters in the business? I’ve always known him as the The Guy Who Only Covers LeBron. Like, the dude’s career was made by covering James in Akron, then Cleveland, then he followed him to Miami, and then back to Cleveland. He’s been ESPN’s guy on the LeBron Beat since

Starred specifically for “he was roughing up the suspect”

So, since the former bosses of Deadspin/Gawker were shitbags, Deadspin may never ever report on the shitbaggery of other bosses? Is that the point?

The real crime here is Canadians drinking coronas in Alberta.
