It’s amazing how we look at cancer treatment, and end of life in general, honestly. A dear friend from high school died a couple of years ago from aggressive metastatic breast cancer at 31. She was so open about her experience on Facebook, and that was one of the most frustrating things for her, when people would tell

The hair thing made me cry. My Dad and my closest female friend were both diagnosed with cancer in the same month. My friend had more problems at the front end, and lost her hair fairly early in her treatment. I remember her telling me that no one tells you the hair falls out in clumps, and that all of your hair falls

Yeah I get that people want to be inspiring and hopeful, but sometimes it comes across sounding like if they die from the cancer they just weren’t trying hard enough or hoping hard enough or (and these people can rot) praying hard enough.

I am in awe that she has gone public. Cancer is scary, but also gross, messy, very painful, completely ravages and changes your body, and it’s a very ugly side of life that people would rather not have in front of them...but it’s so important.

No. Signing up to a religious school shouldn’t mean that you’re agreeing to be expelled if you get raped at on off-campus party. Even if you were drinking. This is the reason that zero tolerance is an awful policy. It punishes the extraordinarily guilty to the same degree as the mildly guilty. It does not allow for

What? Why shouldn’t the manager be allowed to drop a client if the client chooses to do something he is strongly against (and/or could possibly hurt his business which I assume is generally liberal/anti-Trump)?

Unless they are disrupting the performance, you don’t get to have an opinion unless you paid for their admittance.

This is a completely different situation than the author of the original article.

That would probably work better on an artist that didn’t have as much of a pull as Bassen at this point, who does seem to sell enough of her work to make an impact. I don’t follower her so much, but I follow companies similar to her that don’t seem to have as many fans and customers but are constantly putting out new

I took senior Physics and Biology and have literally never used either.

Yes you have. You “use” physics ever single day, it’s just your brain processes the equations for you without you having to think about it. Do you drive a car? Think about braking. Your brain basically tells you when to push the pedal and how much force to exert on it to come to a full and complete stop without

I’ve never used physics or biology as an adult (or any high-level math), but I’m certainly very glad I had good public school teachers who instilled reasoning techniques, problem-solving techniques, learning techniques, etc. Those I use all the time.

I would hope that you have integrated what you’ve learned in physics and biology into your understanding of the universe, and the tools science gives us to evaluate information, at an intuitive level. You don’t have to be a physicist of biologist to gain from understanding why and how things we interact with every day

I’m not going to shit on your opinion, but it’s important to expose every kid to those concepts (just like musical arts/literature/history etc.) regardless of perceived use.

Yes, and those are both shady as fuck. Trapping foreign nationals in your country is abusive.

That’s not routine. I don’t know what kind of tour company you’ve been travelling with, but keeping someone’s passport is not common at all in China.

Reductress gets it:

I guess because it’s late Friday afternoon but this essay confuses me...what’s the thesis statement? That women who are body-shamed shouldn’t be “clapping back”?
