Its an attempt to bury extended coverage of it. Like “why was it delyed” or “is the game in trouble” type commentary. They hope something else comes up before Tuesday that is newer to write about.

Yep, politicians do that when they have to say something they dont want to say. It is an attempt to duck big coverage since most writers are going to be off so it just gets a blurb then covered up by newer stuff that happens over the weekend.

They used to not even give release dates at all. It came out when they were done. I worked at Electronics Boutique and when Sonic 2 had a realease date 3 months in advance it was unheard of.

No Mans Sky is a PS4 console exclusive, therefore it overlaps with the Sony fanboys - which are the absolute WORST. They are by far the most aggressive.
