I know it gets said with regularity any time Woody Allen is even mentioned around here, but I really don’t get why people think his films are so genius. It’s nearly always a story of a young, hot woman falling in love with an older neurotic guy. It’s beyond unrealistic. I always thought Twilight was creepy because

The number of people who haven’t actually read any of the court documents or the statement of the prosecuter, and yet STILL claim to know what went down (and are 100% wrong), is astounding - it’s a definite credit to Allen’s publicity machine.

I hope this is a case where the Streisand Effect comes into play and finally finally Woody Allen’s career ends.

Not to say things are great on that front either, but Hollywood is still less resistant to allowing male minorities to direct than they are to allowing women of any race to direct. Look at Ryan Coogler. There’s absolutely no way that a woman who directed a somber indie drama like Fruitvale Station, which was well

Hopefully it is intersectional, but then you still have men of color who are also discriminated against so this investigation should really include all discrimination.

Read this interview with Amy Heckerling, director of Clueless on Vulture. http://www.vulture.com/2016/05/amy-he… Here’s a relevant quote: “Twentieth Century Fox and Paramount both have no female directors on their rosters until 2018. What’s going on?

I know we are all like “duh” over here but as a woman hoping to enter that industry after college this is fucking fantastic. If (when) they find that there is gender discrimination I’m hoping that results in actual change because man is this a daunting industry for non white males at the moment.

I hope that she is just making his life so hellish that he has no choice but to release her from the label.

It isn’t so much body-shaming as totally inappropriate cultural fat-phobic reinforcement at far too tender/impressionable an age. Which may be even more messed up.

Also a good option.

I’m more of a #StarringToshiroMifune kind of guy. You know. If we can time travel.

Maybe we should all be a little thirstier.

These people truly believe that they compelled by God to establish an American Christian theocracy. It’s batshit and terrifying.

“And when I got in my truck, you know, I was so proud, because I felt like I finally drew a line in the sand and stood up for what I believed.”

Later, in the staff meeting, Dan presents all his interesting and unexpected findings, without a hint of irony.

This is just so.. it’s ... it’s just so PERFECT.

It’s not simply because they compared her to a white person. They compared her African-textured hair, which was styled in homage to actual African hairstyles that specific peoples wear (or wore), to a white woman’s hair that looks nothing like it. They cut out the true inspiration and Africaness to make a connection

IMO there’s barely a resemblance. AH looks like she’s wearing a modified beehive.

They also very much wanted to work in a reference to a Vogue photo shoot. “What could have inspired her? Oh, that’s right, us!”

Generous, actually.
