The thing with what they’re describing here is that it’ll not interact with the strange anomalies like full bookshelves, etc. It’ll only interact where it can’t cause a problem. Doorways & hallways, windows, etc. As of now all AR works that way.

AR uses environment mappings, it’s way more accurate than you think.
*Edit - Comparing Oculus, Valve etc isn’t appropriate because those are VR.
AR technology is simply an overly to the environment, not a fully generated environment.
