I never really thought about it before, but the goofiness of the Tennant-era Who does feel a bit like the Graham Williams/Douglas Adams stretch of the Fourth Doctor's era, where so much of it is a bit silly and relies on the lead actor's not inconsiderable charm to sell it all.

This sums up my feelings about Ezri. I really like seeing the new Dax and the way everyone reacts to her, but it came at the absolute worst possible time.

Yeah, they never gave him much to do on TWW, but he always sold the hell out of it.

I've always thought that interesting thing about Gina is that she's an Archer character in a Parks and Recreation type show.

Am I the only person who actually doesn't rank White Blood Cells that high in their discography? It has some unimpeachable classic songs on it, but generally the rest all tend to run together for me in a way that their other albums don't.

"Crazy Train" is a song that pisses me off because it wastes an amazing opening riff on a really lackluster song.

This is one of those television episodes that I could find faults with if I wanted to, but, dammit, Prince had a trained butterfly! I can't not love that.

For a second, I read "Scott Adkins" as "Scott Asdit" and started imagining a very different movie.

I think that would really mess with the flow of the series. Plus the actors do look rather different now and might not be up for the physicality of it. Both good reasons why Big Finish is the perfect way to keep their Doctors going.

"I know it's not going to happen, but I'd love to see them devote an episode of each season to producing a new classic Doctor adventure, and McGann would be a major part of that. "

I'm kind of hoping that the fact that she's not a plot device anymore means that she'll get to become more of a character. Kind of like Dawn on Buffy.

Well, this sort of was the Year of the Doctor, so I think the naming convention fits.

It really is a shame about the farting aliens because the Rose/Doctor/Jackie stuff really works and I think is an important deconstruction of the whole companion concept. I'm pretty sure if the Slitheen didn't fart, this would be held up as a classic.

They haven't mentioned it on the show, but Steven Moffat has mentioned it several times. Also, there was an article in The Mirror today that pretty much comes out and says that this is going to happen: http://www.doctorwhotv.co.u…

Yeah unless the regeneration in "The Stolen Earth"/"Journey's End" counts as a regeneration that just didn't change his face. If that one counts, then he's used them up. I think it counts and Steven Moffat seems to as well: “Technically, if you really counted it, the David Tennant Doctor is two Doctors, on account of

I think we're supposed to read that as River using up all her regenerations to save the Doctor as opposed to giving him her regenerations. No one mentions the regeneration limit having changed after it happens and it would be anticlimactic if someone said that's what happened now. Fixing the regeneration limit is too

I didn't know that I wanted this until I read this, but now I want it with a burning passion.

Well, there's a short preview for the Christmas special indicating that it takes place at Trenzalore. Plus there's the fact that the dead TARDIS where the Doctor is buried looks like Eleven's.

The way that it came off to me, it seemed less like the search for Gallifrey was being set up as series 8 arc and more like it's meant to be the basic character motivation for the show moving forward in general. I doubt it'll shake out that way, but that's how it seemed to me.
