“not one of those fancy people wearing black to honor our rapes would have lifted a finger”

Yeah, I have a problem with Rose McGowan screaming “FAKE ALLY” at all the women wearing black while literally verbally supporting a predator. The TV show is certainly not going to mention that, though.

Nothing like monetizing abuse.

I’m not a huge fan of E! but this is a pretty big step up from celebrity gossip and all things Kardashian 24/7.

That’s my problem with Rose - attacking allies. Now is the time for women to come together and ride out this wave of change with one another. Dividing that strength is not going to do anyone good.

Right. I support her in coming forward but in other areas, she’s turning out to be a real nasty piece of work. This protest was not all about her, and it’s hypocritical and arrogant of her to act like she’s more feminist and more real than the women in black. She’s contributing to part of the misogynistic narrative

Seriously? So if a woman doesn’t dress modestly she’s a Cool Girl who supports rapists? I thought feminism was against the patriarchal ‘Fight rape culture by toning it down, not drawing attention to yourself, and not dressing like a ‘slut’ BS that’s been thrown at us for thousands of years.

A protest doesn’t work unless you can get a high percentage of participation. They may have considered a no-show protest, floated the idea, realized that participation would be low, and abandoned it. You show your power with numbers. Having five actresses refuse to show up at the Golden Globes wouldn’t have

OK. I will take the bait, though I shouldn’t: The actresses have built into their contracts that they have to show up to these events. It’s part of the publicity and marketing for their projects. They cannot just not show up. It is their jobs. They are not there for fun. As well, contacts are made, hands are shaken,

Was that cunty dig at Jessica Chastian necessary?

Hey, the woman in the red dress is NOT Zenobia Shroff from The Big Sick, but Meher Tatna, the president of the HFPA...

The black dress code is the symbolism for a wider movement. Time’s Up has already raised over $15 million for men and women in all industries seeking legal representation in sexual harassment cases. Things are changing. Being reductive about the black dress code is not unlike how the right try to frame kneeling during

I’m not sure why “women, the vast majority of whom have experienced sexual harassment on the job” should have to make themselves hideous for this? It’s a solidarity thing, and black is the one color that doesn’t have a trillion shades.

what the fuck is going on in this Dirt Bag? this is...messy at best

Same. Would that vitriolic wrath directed at her was converted into real action against the actual abusers...

That stylist was asked a question about styling and answered the question with a response about styling. Can we save our vitriol for where it’s really deserved please?

I was ready to get mad at the actress who said that about black dresses except it wasn’t an actress. It was a stylist who was asked about her work and, as a response, talked about her work. She may have been completely insensitive when she was interviewed, sure, OR maybe that one quote does not represent the entirety

Here’s a quote from stylist Erica Cloud on ABC News:

That wasn’t a quote about rape, and that was a pretty messed up thing to do to a stylest who was, presumably, being asked a question about her job.

That was an absolutely straight-faced quote about rape.
