The Newport News and Norfolk area of the state is not so great, assuming that’s where you probably were if stationed in the Navy. Living in the Appalachian part of the state makes it worth it, great driving, beautiful scenery, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and rarely get bothered by police.

I have lived in virginia for thirty years and seldom obey the speed limit. I have certainly gotten a few tickets, but just that - a few. As usual, I think your problem might be your assholy squid driving “style,” not the admittedly draconian traffic laws in VA.
