probably not wrong about the truly niche figures, but just “Nendoroids” are hardly niche; there are figures for a ton of mainstream popular things (many Disney/Marvel figures, for example). the suit seems petty, but if a lot of people took it seriously, that could at least make a dent.

yay, more Tom Pelphrey! (in addition to being excited about the rest of the cast)

rather, she called it reductive. it may not only surround her experience with post-partum depression, but even if it did, not surprising that it went misunderstood or portrayed without enough nuance. there’s a long history of not taking women’s pain seriously; this is not new.

it was just an opportunity to mention his book; that’s all that matters.

seconded re: the FBI agent; easily one of the most entertaining parts of McMillions.

*cries in Texan*

but! if you use that line, the expectation is set that you (the customer) will be at least somewhat polite moving forward. i had customers say this to me in my CSR days, but then continue to just be angry jerks “at the company”. barring extremes... no, not okay.

i can’t find my own comment to reply under, but: Ani’s mother is not Japanese, according to some articles i’ve read. i didn’t remember that being covered in the film, but if she was a native English speaker, for example, that might explain Ani’s English, at least.

i thought some of it might have to do with the seemingly elite organization (particularly for Ani, who might have gotten special schooling as part of her family/connections?). if that’s not what was meant to be guessed, then yeah, it’s a little odd.

loved the song choice for the car chase <3

a shop near me has CC Lemon occasionally, and i buy them as often as i can. probably one of the most relatable parts of the film!

hm, non-Japanese blogger happy to post about “that wacky Japan” for clicks in the past expressing thinly veiled dismay that a movie might do the same...

criticism of Ted Lasso would probably be better received if it didn’t seem like suddenly everyone was working extra hard to find something wrong with it, and making that approach from some position of superiority.

on the other hand, it’s a suggestion that people should just allow themselves to be chased or bullied out of their homes and communities. even if leaving really is the safest option, it’s fair for being to be frustrated or upset at hearing that. it’s really not much different than telling someone to go back to their

preferable to the mountains of hate for Olivia Munn, tbh. i don’t really know much about her, but people are being really gross (especially those who were obviously mega thirsty for Mulaney before).

i guess it helps that i already love that Keane song, but i am also a sucker for the “darkening” or spooky versions of pop songs. between this and the first teaser for Last Night in Soho, happy.

also, “but what if you aborted the next Einstein?!?!!!111"

there are quite a lot of poop-related quests... did laugh at “poodad” though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

potential runner up?

worry about yourself; i assume you’ll be canvassing, etc. since you care so much about the vote, and you’ll certainly want some comfortable shoes for all that walking.
