i’d imagine part of it is also a step away from man/woman/he/her as the assumed default. it’s not necessarily the most important, defining thing about someone, but i liken it to having different shades of skin tone bandages (instead of just “beige” being the default/only option). a wider range of skin tones and

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

showering once a week isn’t frequent enough for most people*, IMO... but i also don’t want to hear anyone talking about unwashed asses unless they own a bidet.

*there are some people who may genuinely not be able to bathe easily or frequently, and they’re excluded from this.

internal or external, experience and ability is something that should have come up way, way before the tweets were brought up. i do not believe those things were discovered at the same time, or had the same impact on whether or not she would proceed to hold that position.

maybe “inconsequential” wasn’t the right word; i meant that more along the lines of how Alexi seems to have done quite a bit to move on and grow as a person, since those tweets so many years ago (so it’s not much of an indicator of who she is now). the thing itself isn’t inconsequential, but it’s not really useful for

some people here expressed concerns about her age and experience as well, but it seems like those things would have eliminated her from the running long before the tweets became an issue. (others also made a good point about how being younger actually made her a good fit for Teen Vogue.)

there’s a fairly consistent white = bad refrain throughout these websites (which incidentally, undercuts any legitimate criticism someone might have pertaining to white people or culture). it’s just some subtle reinforcement for weird brownie points, i guess.

although she was “guilty as accused”, the situation around Alexi McCammond (almost Teen Vogue editor) was also pretty crappy, and really highlighted how some people would not accept anything but absolute perfection.

i bought some of the expensive running shoes and i don’t use them for running BUT... they have made my walks so much better (especially during recovery from a back injury). even just wearing them while running errands made things a bit better.

fair enough! it is a convenient form of exercise.

meh; i think it’s fine to simply pick different forms of exercise if you hate running (as someone who also hates running). it’s not as if running doesn’t have downsides, either; wasn’t there just an article here about black toenails?

maybe now some people are finally understanding the frustrations of people who couldn’t play or enjoy Sekiro without difficulty settings, and were just told to go away and get over it. “if it’s too hard, it’s not for you, stop crying. the devs had a vision and shouldn’t be forced to give it up.

... and the complainers will never see the parallels between this and how they defended the makers of Sekiro for making an ~artistic~ decision by leaving out features. this is you, guys.

they’re just as likely to be competition as they are potential dates, so i agree that it’s not conclusive and could go either way. in other words, it’s reasonable to think of both possibilities, because it doesn’t really confirm anything at all. there’s not much reason behind deciding it can only mean one thing, with

only somewhat related + i’ve only seen a few mentions of it online, but for those that do...

chiming in on this, since i spoke in favor of keeping parenting and working reasonably separate...

oh, that’s silly. people who reproduce aren’t entitled to any special brand of respect for doing so; you either respect them as you do all fellow people, or you don’t.

no, this is definitely rude and dismissive (and pretty rich, coming from someone who complained about the “snobbery” of people in the UK). it’s different from Bong Joon-ho’s comments in that... well, she’s just being an ass (which anyone would recognize if it was coming out of someone else’s mouth). disappointing.

most people don’t know the difference/way to say “it’s not for me” vs. “it’s awful, period”. examples abound, here.

it really is ugly. along with the “artist’s” attitude. gross, all around.
