From what I’ve understood, some airlines insist you take your cat in a carrier with you now. One rather nice westjet lady straight up said they’d rather not let one of the employees who hurls your luggage and caused countless baggage claims do the same to your cat.

I think it’s because some people have had crappy situations for their pets being loaded in cargo and will try to take every step to make the trip bearable. And if I was given the option, I’d chill in the cargo hold with my cat. If push came to shove, I’d rather pay for a seat then shell out a vet bill and have a cat…
