Yeah, my guess would be that the streamer’s bullshitting too; but Ka Mai’s point is valid in a more general sense. Sincerity isn’t a property of actions or outcomes, but of intent, which we’re simply inferring.

I’m not saying that he’s “malicious” (which means deliberately wanting to fuck over AB employees, and is a word that Ka Mai threw out and not myself), I’m saying he doesn’t actively seem to care that much or at least certainly not to the extent he’s claiming in words.
Why the fuck do people think continuing to support the company accomplishes anything when it comes to supporting the not-touchyfeely employees? Even if Actiblizz wasnt in this mess a hundred of them would still get fired the next quarter so Blizzard’s numbers look better.
Take money away from the damn company so it…
So I came in late and read all of this (or at least as much as Kinja will show me), and it does seem like you’re missing Ka Mai’s point.
I want the BBC to commit to this and continue to call it the wrong thing for the entire games.
Are you serious? They would buckle eons before they would even come close to mass layoffs. A cycle of bad press, lawsuits, and little income would tank their stock value hard. If management wouldn’t step in at that point the board would or the shareholders would call a vote to replace the board with people that will…
It turns out my COD burnout was “activism” all along.
Considering I’ve bought two Activision games (Crash and Spyro remake trilogies) in the past 15 years, it’ll be pretty easy for me to boycott them.
Don’t pretend like they don’t know why people have stopped playing, this isn’t some slow market shift away from their type of game. They know why people aren’t playing, it’s because they don’t want to fund a company knowingly employing abusive people.
For whatever reason, you won’t even acknowledge the point I’m contending.
His way of “opposing” what they do is to literally continue acting in the exact same way as before which is to pay Activision-Blizzard money so he can do streams featuring content built in an environment where people were physically assaulted.
You know Kai, devils don’t *have* to have advocates.
Never said he was “malicious or scheming”, said he doesn’t actually give a fuck and it’s performative given he’s not willing to back it up with actions. Continuing to give them money is just maintaining the status quo they’re apparently upset with.
They mentioned concerns raised during the investor call over potential dips in monthly active users and big influencers leaving the community as a sign that players have gotten Activision Blizzard’s attention.
It is not unfair. if you have a problem with them. Stop giving them Money. Any other solution doesn’t have any impact
“Personally, I’ve chosen to remain subbed, but I also think boycotting is a valid response,” they told Kotaku over email. “A combination of both sides working together is what’s going to grab the leaderships’ and shareholders’ attention.”
Ah, this was my mistake! I accidentally included full-length Amazon links, which can affect the way text displays if you have, say, an adblocker or something turned on. The article should show up normally now.
Thank you! And I still think you should give it a go, color wise. I think it would look nice on olive skin!
Love that jumpsuit- you are rocking it! As an olive skinned lady I cannot pull off chartreuse, and envy those that do.
