Yeah I’m sure it will be successful, The Boys content is pretty popular. As I said to another commenter, though, it’s kinda just becoming the thing that it’s lampooning. It may be “quality” sure, but the fundamental idea of these spinoffs existing somewhat undercuts whatever criticism of Marvel, DC, and comics in

I understand that the content is probably entertaining, which is fine. But it’s one of those things where, by pursuing new content like this when the source is implicitly criticizing the very idea of doing so (like Marvel and DC), it kinda undercuts itself by becoming the very same.

These spin-offs, like the Squid Game reality game show, reek of the same type of corporate shamelessness. Amazon and Netflix just mining their successes for more content, completely ignoring the dissonance, while we consume it nonetheless. Not surprised, just disappointed.

I think the bigger problem is they haven’t let him cook in the background like they did with Thanos. The fun in comics, and comic book storytelling, is you can have multiple protagonists and antagonists going in parallel, and Kang was the perfect character to sprinkle around across different properties interacting

The same problem that Zombieverse had: knowing that no one truly thinks their life is at stake undermines the very premise of a “reality TV zombie apocalypse.”

The real answer is to stop flooding the market. I generally hate their practice of “vaulting” films, but at least that practice is based in some awareness of how brand quality works. Disney cheapened their stock, making their properties into “content” rather than the experiences the company has tried to sell us

Beautifully stated, wholeheartedly agree

I had been wanting to get into F1 but yeah, the show leaning into the reality TVish angle just didn’t work for me.

Huh, will give the Legion Go a look as well. Thanks for the rec.

That USB-C vid was pretty disappointing, yeah. It was nice seeing the internals on the super cheap end, but there was no attempt to show real competitors in the space, like Anker. I thought he was going the route of Tanner Leatherstein, breaking down the quality and production involved but guess not.

This has been my biggest concern with jumping in on Steam Deck - consistent game compatibility. I might be one of the few people who doesn’t want to game on the go so much as have the portability of bringing my library from one TV to another. My old desktop would play basically anything I want, but when I started

Agreed. Its biggest sin is leaving the viewer basically indifferent once it’s over.

Agreed. I think Ultron is a much more enjoyable rewatch than the original Avengers, even if there was less “Marvel bloat” in the original.

This reminds me of that episode “Jimmy” on Static Shock, the only child-appropriate and targeted episode on gun violence I can think of. And even that was a tough watch. Doing it in a live action comedy like this just seems completely untenable.

The original MacBook, available in black or white colors, was released on May 16, 2006

Loki still sees himself, first and foremost, as a god—a more benevolent one now, but still possessed of an inherent need for order or control.

I’m honestly surprised that William doesn’t understand the motivations at play here. Renslayer’s is based in practically no character change on her part, making her easiest to understand. She just wants to restore the pecking order, like you said.

Gave that Wiki page a look, and the common thread I see is that Activision acquired those studios by the time they had the licenses to publish those games. Like if you look at the X-Men, practically all of the developers were acquired by Acti before those studios started down the path you’re talking about. That trend

God I enjoyed that movie way more than I thought
