I think you’re right, a lot of this comes across as punitive attempts to catch a dissonance between a person’s external expression and their inner world, which...well, unless you’re a mind reader, you can’t possibly determine. There may be legitimate claims that someone famous is misrepresenting who they are, and that

But why? It’s a mod that “you” choose to install, or not. It’s not like they replace the flags with anti-LGBTQ ones.

If they wanted to go through this effort from the privacy of their own home on their own computer, no one was going to stop them. But the minute they chose to make this mod public, they opened themselves up to scrutiny from outside observers - namely the platform hosting their content.

I imagine its success is pinned on parents putting their toddlers in front of the screen for hours at a time as a virtual babysitter. The audience isn’t hung up on the VA quality.

I legitimately had to Google that because, as absurd as that title is, I could totally believe they greenlit that for TLC

Okay but I do want a Gray Ghost movie (rip Adam West)

I found the longing boy-friend bit annoying as well but, when I stepped back, I realized that this story is for those yet to become so jaded. Not that teenagers can’t recognize a trope, but that dynamic may resonate more when it speaks to your current experience. I dunno, I’m just trying to judge this on its execution

The drones were the same ones from Spider-Man: Far From Home. Presumably repurposed once Mysterio’s scheme fell apart.

My apologies, this is the AV Club. I forgot to comment before reading as well.

First paragraph.

Yeah he definitely gave off a 5-10 year older version of Pete this time around.

I don’t think that was his intention here. It probably has less to do with his colleagues and more to do with the powers-that-be, dictating what he and his colleagues could even do with the character, themes, and narrative. By the way things played out, he seemed to find an okay middle ground, and that’s only possible

An aside, but considering Ulliel’s tragic passing earlier this year, maybe writing him out of the story worked in their favor here.

My takeaway there is how faith is often tightly coupled with family. Though rather than explicitly explore that idea (6 episodes isn’t enough time for everything else here as it is) they just let that resonate for those who see it and let it lie for those for whom it doesn’t.

Agreed that putting Bats off balance creates some of the best opportunities to let his character shine. That opening sequence, with Supes “removed” from the ground, pairs nicely with his sudden appearance in that car chase, making the threat far more intimate for Bruce. A lot of potential there.

Now I want to edit BvS to see if this idea is viable. I know “less is more” is blasphemy to Snyder but that framing of yours would have elevated the narrative substantially, especially if the first time you see Supes clearly is when he “dents” Bat’s car.

Finally, someone who shares my confusion at that beloved-due-to-proximity-to-other-Disney-turns-at Star Wars

Was that ever in question

They were referring to the films discussed in the article?
