What is alternative medicine that works...medicine.
Starring you for due diligence.
Which I understand completely.
The commenter of whom you speak had family interned in the concentration camps in World War II, and thus felt an instinctual reaction to people being separated in train cars.
You seriously think it would only be for white women? This need for people to specify that ‘women’ includes women of color is just bizarre.
And yet, despite your personal family history, your comment is still offensive, suggesting an equivalency between a racist policy and a progressive policy that doesn’t exist and is absurd.
Your comment that a train car that is offered optionally for women reminds you of the holocaust is quite offensive.
It’s incredible to me that Germany, which has opened its borders to refugees more than any other country (over 1 million in 2015 alone), is now being accused in comments here and elsewhere of fascist behavior simply because they a small rail company is introducing women-only compartments. Do people commenting here…
Meanwhile, white girls all over America frequent tanning salons and apply massive amounts of self-tanner and bronzer in an effort to look darker.
If that helps, a lot of young white women die because of tanning beds. I’m eastern european, and here it is absolutely socially unacceptable to show white skin, you *must* be tan. Or cover up. Because pale is ugly.
1. Being pale is a beauty standard that was around long before white folks came over to the orient, which she mentions in the article. I don’t think the argument of “white supremacy” should be used with such broad strokes in regards to all the countries that sell skin bleaching products. I’m Chinese and we obviously…
But you’re criticising this based on an American-centric viewpoint. That’s not so cool when you’re talking about beauty norms from other countries.
In many countries, historically, paler skin was associated with ruling classes and wealth because a fair complexion indicated a life not spent toiling outside in the fields. Asian ladies in my town who shield themselves from the sun with umbrellas are not trying to look like white people, they’re trying to avoid a…
Supporting Hillary Clinton (as I intend to do in a general election if she gets the nomination) doesn’t make anyone a right-wing apologetic. Defending neoliberal economics and cynical dog-whistle identity politics? That does. I’m commenting on the turn this commentariat has taken, when it comes to defending every…
I think this is less a referendum on Jezebel as a whole (which has always sucked, just in ways that have changed over the years) and more a referendum on how much some women are willing to bury their heads in the sand/turn a blind eye/look the other way/whatever just to see a woman in the White House.
I hear a lot about ‘Bernie bros’ and how intolerant his supporters are but HOLY CRAP, I see so many people attacking his views and his supporters. This whole things is so gross.
This is so true. A vote for Hillary is a vote for the patriarchy, within which she is thoroughly entrenched. There’s a lot of complaints here about “Bernie Bros” and “I like Bernie but I despise his supporters”, but in fact the bulk of the vitriol and whining I see here is coming from the Hillary camp. I wish people…
You’ve got the right stuff to make it in right-wing politics.
And we’d very much like to keep it that way.
Oh, but it’s standard here on Jezebel. I read about how people here claimed Europeans (Swedes, Germans etc) to be very racist and having problems with the refugees coming. This despite the fact that for example studies from Sweden show that a vast majority of Swedes believes immigration to be solely a positive thing…
