So what are they saying... that a bear can’t rape a man because it’s female?

That’s what Conrad Black got prison time for as well. The only time rich guys go to prison is if they steal from other rich guys.

Polysyllabic names from a different language with different letter-sounds than one is used to are tricky. We hadn’t been dating long but it was clear he’d spent some time staring at my name (and/or scribbling it in the margins of his notebook.)

oh christ, I think they’d disown me if I came out to them.

Seems legit. Who knows more about racism in the LAPD than the LAPD? Nobody, because there isn’t any. Case dismissed.

This month I fully investigated myself and found myself guilty of being awesome. This, of course, was a completely unbiased investigation with comprehensive notes and interviews with my grandparents who know me to be without any flaws whatsoever. I’m pretty much perfect in every way.

Yeah... one of the issues about hyphenated last names is that if a Smith-Kaminsky marries a Johnston-Nakamura, and then decide to combine their names to have 4 last names, good luck getting that on your Social Security card. I used to work for the SSA, and we had exactly that problem in our very liberal area (I’m not

answer to both questions is yes.

terrible things on the playground, probably

i think he identified mostly as blown up goo by the end ;)

You don’t think that all those things are part of a patriarchal system that defines femininity and polices how women should look?

Feminists make non-feminist choices every single day, though. I shave my legs and put on makeup and wear dresses and do all the laundry and the majority of the cooking. I wore white and danced with my father at my wedding. My husband proposed to me with a diamond engagement ring, and yes, I took his last name. I do

I’m not sure how I feel about alcoholics being held less responsible. It’s not like suffering from another brain disease that impairs your judgment- schizophrenia, for example. There’s a level of decision making with substance abuse that you don’t have the option with with schizophrenia.

You weren’t there, so you don’t know. Your experience does not define that of everyone else.

I had a male friend do that to me years ago when I told him I’d had a blackout hookup. I’d planned on having sex with the guy that night, and we were both trashed and couldn’t remember much in the morning. But my friend kept insisting it wasn't just a drunken hookup and that I was raped.

So why could Jake consent if he was drunk too? Because he’s a man?

Depends who you ask. Some people will say that only a drunk woman cannot give consent (which I guess means men can never not give consent?). Here’s a gross college poster for your time:

It is certainly messed up and creepy for people to intentionally make others drunk and then have sex with them as the more sober person. But I don’t see how it’s rape if the drunk person is active and engaged in the moment. It’s rape if the drunk person is basically unconscious level drunk. Blackouts happen sometimes

Yeah that bothered me too. I don’t like the idea of insisting, against her own claims to the contrary, that what happened to her was rape.

Yeah, I used to drink to an embarrassing level and do embarrassing things with people, but I’d definitely not call my equally drunk partners in embarrassment rapists. I’d definitely like to be the one to make the call on that.
