I’m sorry to hear your story and will think twice before posting things like that in future. I’ve been known to take an idealistic stance too far before.

It was a question, not an accusation. But, I’m saying that 12 (?) people had access to more evidence than you or I and unanimously decided they could not say with confidence he was guilty.

Look, I appear to have stirred up a bit of a hornet’s nest in here. Partly my fault for not reading around the article. I’ve subsequently read around it (and I encourage others here not to rely solely on the Village voice link and to read around also) and agree it’s a bit murkier than I first took it to be.

Not to get all ITG up in here, but if someone had done that to one of my children there wouldn’t be enough money in the world. Given the chance I would kill them and go to gaol/death row with a fucking smile on my face.

Yeah, I just googled it. Sounds pretty fucking disgusting, but... if that were on video, how was he acquitted? I mean, a jury giving a black man the benefit of the doubt with video evidence of a sex crime sounds unlikely, no?

I think a lot of posters on here don’t seem to appreciate that people who frequent online forums like these tend to have an interest in progressive politics as a whole and the whole alphabet soup that is LGBTQIAP, which is great, but a lot of people out there in the real world are more parochial and only care about…

It’s also worth noting that France in general and Paris in particular is symbolic of both modern Western democracy and Western culture.
