I’m pretty sure 95% of being a regular season manager is just not being a dick and don’t murder your pitching like Dusty Baker. Stick with slumping players and don’t let the racist on the team punch out the latin or asian guy in the clubhouse. After that the team is pretty much going to manage itself.

I cannot possibly imagine that anyone would have thought game 1 was boring even from a box score. Home run bottom on the 9th? Changes in the lead (or ties) on what 5 occasions? Come back win for the home team? Game 1 was like every 12 year old’s dream there were a million heroes.

I’m not generally one for baseball, but what a fucking first two games. If you just looked at a box score I think for the first game you’d think “probably boring” and the second “lopsided victores aren’t entertaining” but both games have been amazing to actually watch.

Looks to me like he had time to just get in front of the ball and knock it down instead of getting cute with the backhand. Or if he wants to go with the backhand, go forward and get it on the high hop instead of letting it take another hop. Either way, that’s not a hard hit ball, not something you have to dive for.…
