The problem with Iron Fist is (well, several things) that it didn’t settle on what it wanted to be. You stated perfectly the idea of Luke Cage’s motivation as a character. That could have been a very similar set up for Danny Rand as motivation, the “racial overtones”.

I am usually the only one I know that watches these high concept genre shows. Absolutely no one I know watches (or watched) Hannibal, Black Flags, Homeland, Outlander, etc.
