Oooh, they’re nice places to be :) I’ve lived mostly in the Kew, Camberwell, Hawthorn area, but also out near Heidelberg :)

I’m from Melbourne, but I just moved to Canberra for work - I worked as paralegal in a community law clinic, and most of our clients had ice addictions (or had chronic alcohol issues). I have friends who work in the mines in WA - one works on moving machinery and materials in and out of the mines, and he gets really…
A lot of the meth in Arizona/New Mexico/California does come from Mexican cartels.
The issue in America is that the company that makes OxyContin ran an enormous campaign when it first came out. It (among other heavy drugs) were massively overprescribed. They realized it was a massive problem and responded by making it much harder to prescribe and get. This addicts turn to heroin because it’s…
Thank you. I’m pretty proud. And a better person overall.
Fresno is in California. The southwestern states still have a big meth problem. But in the southeast - Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and such - we’re pretty far removed from Mexico.
Ha, no Fresno is in central California. The south generally refers to former slave states like Alabama Mississippi Georgia etc. California is its own deal. Arizona, new mexico, etc are the Southwest, which is very different from the South.
That’s so weird. I’m from Indiana and we’ve had a meth problem for as long as I can remember but it always seemed to be a poor, largely rural (but Indy is 99.5% rural, so....)white thing. But now it’s spread to the city and crossed racial boundaries. I admit it’s a privileged opinion but I’m always so baffled by it.…
This is interesting! Meth was *huge* here in the south (Tennessee) about 15-20 years ago but it’s barely a blip on the radar anymore. Errrrybody is doing heroin. (Excuse me for inserting myself into this conversation of Aussies.)
Hello, fellow Australian! I’ve heard that heroin and ice are rampant at the mines in WA. That’s exactly what happened to my ex - he’d been clean for awhile out of jail, took a dose and never woke up.
My ex was a heroin addict - he went to jail, got clean, was released and got his life mostly together with a job and a partner, then died from an overdose almost straight away when he relapsed. Apparently it’s incredibly common and addicts aren’t warned about it or given anything like you describe, here. It’s…
I am a recovering prescription drug addict. This is all kinds of fucked up. Having been in the criminal justice system, I heard many reports of overdosing and how many people’s lives were saved because of Naloxone. I was briefly in King Co Jail in Seattle and one of the most amazing programs they offered was a 30…
This is ridiculous given what’s going on right now. In one week my brother’s friend from high school and my friend’s cousin overdosed. Both died. The guy the cousin had gone out with that night died 2 days later. My father said another doctor told him 300 people had overdosed that month so far. It was only mid-month.
I was also drugged in High School, and what I mean by “drugged” is I took a lot of drugs.
I know this is not entertainment news but the three Syrian families our mosque sponsored will not be coming to America as a result of the ban. They sold all their belongings, went through two years of grueling interviews and background checks and were at the airport in Istanbul Ataturk airport with their luggage and…
I have a somewhat irrational dislike for Lea Michele...
Dear Rest of the Planet and It’s Leaders,
Very true. I heard a piece on NPR about graduate schools being concerned their research programs will suffer. Attracting innovative, intelligent people to do research and build businesses is a strong point of the US economy. Trump is a fucking idiot.
