Point well taken. However the libraries had no problems with Elsevier as long as they had the monopoly on reproduction and distribution of research articles. I can't count the times I had to pay exorbitant copy and search fees to the local medical library to get a citation that should have been free.
It's hard to fight someone who's taking their ball and going home without consenting to play. As a published medical professional whose work has been stymied by Elsevier's ridiculous fees, I'm ecstatic about this trend.
