We both know the only proper take on the character was when he had inexplicable electricity powers. I’d also accept the brief period when he could shoot tiny clones of himself out of his hand.

I would contend that playing Superman as an “actual person” is the wrong take for the character.

No he wasn’t. A proper Superman is a beacon of hope, for the viewer as well as the characters in the film. Snyder’s version had none of that and never would have. He was rushed and still never got to the proper point. Only Whedons version of the character even came close.
