I agree. Was she a jerk in this story? Yeah, seems like it... but “only known for writing about her brushes with celebrities”? Really? She sells out a tour almost every single year across the US for a reason. She’s actually a really talented and respected comedian onstage who is respected as such among her peers.

Wasn’t that basically Jon Hamm’s character on 30 Rock?

When Bruce Willis runs over Ving Rhames with his car.

And not all that many celebrities complain about her. They’re all in on it and friends with her. Maybe, just maybe, they don’t need us regular people to defend them and get in a huff.

I think that’s something most people choose to ignore. She continues to be respected by a lot of respected people. She also continues to be successful and paid. She gets so much shit and every commoner thinks she’s an asshole, but she had an entire show about how she doesn’t care and how she is fine.

This book is so much fun. I love how she calls Kendall Jenner “Candle” and it drives Kendall nuts. I highly recommend this read as Kathy has met just about everybody and doesn’t hesitate to dish.

I was raped by a “significant other” 14 years ago. I haven’t been in a long term relationship (longer than a month) since, even with 9 years of therapy. You’re so right, it’s particularly disturbing.

She’s friends with Kathy so she probably thinks its funny. Kathy is good friends with a lot of big names.

So, you don’t read Dirtbag on this site?

I really like Evan Rachel Wood, and I admire her for speaking out on this topic, etc.

She’s not even mean. She just retells experiences about ridiculous behavior from celebrities.

I don’t love her standup but reading her comment about Jon Hamm thinking he’s comedian funny but only being funny for an attractive guy made me nod my head in agreement and think she was spot on.

Rape is presidential these days. Complaining about your rape has always been inconvenient — now it’s also an insult to the dignity of the presidency.

The only thing I can surmise is that she’s so fucking shameless, unencumbered and bold about herself...which is weird, because we usually admire, if not simply respect, that in a person.

She is so right about how you are never really “OK” after assault. I applaude her bravery on speaking out; I have told almost no one about my rape. It is comforting to hear her story; I hope more of us can speak out.

(Hard to imagine an interview with James Marsden and Ed Harris going the same way, which says something about how we as a culture like to receive our female celebrities raw and vulnerable.)

“Imagine him grabbing the statue, approaching the podium, and saying, simply, “I am an Academy Award winner.””

I don’t get the Kathy Griffin hate on here. She’s basically the staff at Jezebel if the staff at Jezebel attended events with A-listers.

IF YOU NEED SOMEONE TO GO TO COURT I’LL BE HAPPY TO TESTIFY FOR YOU THAT GUY WAS A DRUNKEN MANIAC
