I would say that Linux is more the "manual transmission" of the OS world. Given that analogy, I would consider Windows to be the automatic(simple, found everywhere) and Mac would be like a car with a his and hers shifter(simple, but with the capacity to dig in(since it has a Unix core).

I agree with you, and I have a 4 year old with an impressively expansive vocabulary to prove it. To be fair, his language skills developed about 2 months later than most, statistically speaking, but he caught up very quickly and he understands exactly what I mean when I talk to him like I talk to anyone else.
