Pretty close to true, i disagree with the heartless beast part. Of course everyone wants to make money. I assume you have some way to make money too, right? I find it fascinating that so many people will complain about inventors wanting to profit off their inventiveness, rather than praising the cool inventions.

think about what it takes to create this. Likely tens of millions of dollars or more. Of course they want to make money off of this, they have already sunk tons of money into it. If they can't recoup their investment, then there will be no more future inventiveness.

but the assumption is that everyone reading lifehacker is uncurably addicted to our devices...

I totally agree with the "cut the cable". We did it when the kids were born and don't miss it at all. In fact, we are glad the kids don't have 80 channels of tv junk to surf. Also, it is a treat to have cable at gramma/grampa's or a hotel. Plus, we have netflix, so they can get too much disney type shows on there

The nanny state goes hand in hand with the welfare state. If we didn't feel the need to "take care" of everybody, then we wouldn't have to legislate people to "take care" of themselves.

Agreed. Drunk, or medical, not texting.

Yep, that was a drunk driver, not a text driver.

or is it QRBL:QRBL:

true.

QRL = Ham Radio speak for "Are you busy?"

I'll just keep reclining with increasing pressure until your water bottle pops and leaks on your lap.

me too. must recline, must nap.

Oh, you meant compared to ALL available jb apps. I'm a newb in the jb world, and mainly wanted the info screen. I'm holding back from themes, heard it can make it unstable... ?

I think the Apple reasoning is they want it easy for the masses. That means it has to be easy for gramma and grampa too. Location aware volume is too complicated for them.

I had an app on my Nokia E71 that would set profiles, including volume, ringtone, etc based on the cell tower(s) it was using at the time. So, to the granularity of cell towers (1 mile?) you could have it mute your phone at the movie theater if the theater doesn't use the same tower as your work or home...

Speaking of scratches, my Launch Day IP4 got its first scratch the same DAY that i jailbreaked. Cosmic Karma? Random? Or, don't do a pocket yank while walking in a parking lot (did a nice drop-kick, funny to watch). Most likely i am getting less and less careful with it, and my worry threshold dropped low enough

better than Lockinfo? I disagree, with the latest update, Lockinfo is the King of info screen apps.

The 10% less battery might be because the default weather plugin checks for weather updates EVERY MINUTE. I changed mine to every 15 minutes, don't notice any less battery drain.

no, jailbreak does not affect cell phone signal connection. That is between the cell tower and the phone hardware. A jailbreak is a software "fix" that lets you install and run programs that Apple doesn't "approve".

you are exactly right, and it is that "protection" that provides the safe and easy apple experience.
