While Glenn Greenwald breathlessly retweets those videos, and Matt Taibbi writes about how four talking-head assholes on CNN represent “blue America” trying to shame people into getting vaccines by using the same types of arguments that Tea Party Republicans used in 2010, i.e., “We pay for all you other lazy Americans

Meanwhile, Russell Brand is making videos saying that vaccine passports will lead to fascistic dystopia.

As someone who was just diagnosed with COVID today, hours before I was supposed to get my second jab (probably the Delta variant based on symptoms), all I can say is get your fucking vaccinations!

I’ll be coming up on my fortieth here before too long; I’ve already got slightly-elevated cholesterol and hemoglobin (from a lifetime of smoking and a poor diet). Might have to ask a doctor about one of these CAC scans...now, just gotta find cheap enough insurance to cover it and, well, a doctor!

Fetch my fainting salts.”

Derma-WHAT-ogist??? You must be from New York CITY!

He is famously a loose cannon, and maybe even a little nuts. Years ago, a buddy of mine worked on a movie with Murray called “Mad Dog and Glory.” He said the guy could switch gears in a split second. One minute he’d be clowning around and cracking everybody up, then he’d turn on someone and genuinely scream at them.

This weirdly reads like a mini-obituary and I don't like it.

This is a really strange thing to worry about. It’s Ridley Scott and a movie set int he 1300's. The movie very obviously isn’t going to try and be a message for either way of thinking.

if you wanted to be a little unfair and clickbait-y

Hereditary is a very well made film technically which I never want to see again nor anything else ever by this director. So maybe a bit *too* effective in my case.

From what we now know of Shane, he was very likely pissed and humiliated in that scene. It’s probably worth a rewatch to look at his face when he sees the coffin being loaded onto the plane. I didn’t pay close enough attention.

I love that and Dr. Katz.

I guess I still am trying to see Kevin as a realistic, credible character, because Allison is portrayed that way, or meant more to be one. Instead of Kevin as a meta critique only. The mismatch btwn the two characters, one a sitcom and the other a realistic-ish person may still be too great for me to accept. And thus

Speaking of Danny Kaye, I love him as the Swedish Chef's uncle. White Christmas (with the exception of one scene) is another feel-good one for me. A lot of people prefer Holiday Inn, but I prefer the camaraderie between Crosby and Kaye's characters. "Pushing, pushing."

This might be a strange answer to some, but Harold and Maude. Nothing gives me more hope than this film, Hal Ashby's finest. Personally I think it holds up a lot better than Being There, which is also another film that makes me happy.

Singin in the rain has always been there for me in difficult moments. The only “favourite film” that was favourite at 15, at 30 and at 40 years old.

The Muppet Show. I will endlessly watch compilations of Veterinarian’s Hospital sketches and re-watch my favorite song performances (tough choice for favorite but Danny Kaye singing “Inchworm” with the Muppets is a perfect, sweet moment).
