Just curious, what is it with you people who reply with that kind of comment? Does it make you so mad that someone isn’t fawning over your favorite show? You’re like one of those idiots who yells at someone to leave the country if they don’t like it.

The first couple of seasons were great, like a lot of shows that took a different approach to storytelling instead of the typical sitcom. But this season has a heck of a lot of self-awareness.

It insists upon itself.

The idea that “open-handed” equals “slap” isn’t really accurate is it? Can’t you reasonably imagine the damage an open handed hit can do? Especially from a powerful person?

The “it’s not like he round-housed Chris Rock” defense is laughable. Also, we don’t know if he suffered any injury. Would it only meet your criteria for assault if his ear was bleeding afterwards? 

I can only assume your comment is some kind of performance art.

I don’t find these hypotheticals very useful. What if Chris Rock slapped back? What if he slapped Billy Crystal? What if Elizabeth Taylor slapped Walter Matthau? I can’t believe they haven’t thought up a better excuse other than ... well it was live and we had a show to do so we just kept going. Someone came up on the stage and assaulted someone else. Case closed. Smith should have been thrown out and probably arrested. (Although I guess that part is up to Chris Rock.)
