“No one can make you a bigot; you chose to be a bigot.”

Is it wrong if I feel that if I had Professor X’s powers I’d use Cerebro to find all racists and self haters and put them to sleep...permanently?

No. If they got anything from it, it was entertainment, nothing deeper, and that’s fine. At this point, we don’t expect anything deeper, but there is no way they “got it” on anything but a superficial level. The only chance is if they were the type of white folks who grow up with black folks and grow into an HBCU, not

It was—is—a legitimate worry, as nothing up to this point has proven that they actually get us on anything but a superficial, likely stereotypical, level. I can’t recall how many white acquaintances or (read: former) friends that jumped at what they perceived as the most appropriate opportunity to “act black” at me.

I’ve really enjoyed several songs, videos, and performances of his and I agree with him winning this award, BUT I don’t like his studio voice. It’s so weird because he doesn’t sound like that live. I don’t understand why so many rappers chose a box-fan voice. It’s annoying.

Adele gives me pause because she admittedly copied black women’s voices to create her own. However, I appreciate that she did admit it.

I’ve never been a stan, but I’ve been fan enough to give her my coins and always check for what she produces. I’m getting my life with this current era for many reasons, chief among them being the fact that I’m a Southern black woman. I am so touched, pleased, happy to see black Southern culture represented, and

You do NOT get to decide what I say at any point, place, or time, nor do you get to decide when other people’s slang is “tired.” Sit all the way down and stay down. That goes for any of your concern-trolling and/or digitally blackfaced comrades. You picked the wrong place and person to police. FOH!

The white people who were there (sans the racist, murderous Starbucks staff) said that the men didn’t do anything at all. You have an implicit bias, assuming they must have done wrong.

I absolutely agree. If murder-by-cop isn’t an actual concept already, it should be. Everyone knows good and well that a cop/cops arrival is likely to end in death for black folks in this day and age. They know what they’re doing by calling the cops.

They’ll still blame/negatively name-drop Obama. I just saw some Trump sniffer on Twitter using the beychella and destinyschild tags to get attention to some stupid linked story blaming Obama for something else.

Tbh, I’m really impressed with his tactics because he’s already mentally equipped to prepare for trying to enter the workforce after university. Or, maybe he did things in that way because he has the experience of trying to get jobs while in high school. Each time I’ve returned to live in the U.S., I’ve had to apply

This may surprise you, but not everyone is okay with mediocrity. Why it should be a problem for this young black man to try and see where his intelligence will take him I’m sure I don’t know (I absolutely do know). A person being black doesn’t mean they have to be twice as satisfied with mediocrity as an average to

Outside of MJ, this was the most epic performance I’ve ever seen (and I’m an 80s baby). No one is on her level right now to me, and that’s worldwide. It was on point from start to finish, the whole two hours. No one, love her or even hate her (why, but okay), can take away how awesome that set was (though I’ve seen

While I couldn’t care less about black-woman-hating Cardi or her mate, I DO wish the baby good health, happiness, and safety.

Wow, Dr. Strange and Ant-Man? (Especially Dr. Strange.)

The fact that you see making a film with a predominantly black cast as “pandering” says everything.

I’ve watched this past season 4 times now. It’s my favorite Netflix show.

We’ve already had other succesful films with predominantly black casts. Don’t ignore them in making your point.

I saw it 5 times over here in Japan. I got my coworkers to go see it too. So I may not have been able to contribute to the U.S. box office but I was happy to do it for the culture on the international stage (which almost made up half of sales — or at least it did last time I checked). I watched the sales daily for
