Pete crowed, after bagging the Burger Chef account, "Let's see them give THAT to Bob Benson!"
Pete crowed, after bagging the Burger Chef account, "Let's see them give THAT to Bob Benson!"
Don's shown, throughout the series, that he expects to pay people fairly for their work; he's no Archibald Whitman, that Don. In Dawn's case, Don's paying for Dawn's carfare, for her going out of her way to do his spying for him, for her keeping his secret from Megan and others whom Don wants to keep in the dark about…
And who wear plaid trousers.
Possible reasons:
…Pete's a consummate New Yorker, so a very different animal from what she might normally bump into in La La Land.
…Pete's got additional New Yorkers in his circle, who - undoubtedly - Bonnie's helping to find properties for.
…Pete's in sales, too, so - as Bonnie pointed out - they've got that in common,…
I can see that Cutler and Bob Benson have similar, shark-like menacing streaks. Not surprised that Cutler's fond of Benson.
But at least Ted's diligent about his work. Unlike Cutler. And Roger.
I watched with other folks who'd stayed behind after a dinner party and wished they'd all STFU so I wouldn't miss anything. The show's like a drug, and I don't like anyone interfering with my getting my swirl on.
Those were the days….two dimes for multiple toll calls.
I loved the fact that Sally went looking for her father rather than accepting her classmate's offer to buy her train ticket.
Dawn showed she's the consummate professional to even bother trying to prep dimwitted Meredith to best serve that SOB, Lou.
RE: "The titular workday belongs to the women of this episode—even Sally, who doesn’t have a job, is playing hooky from school, where she would theoretically be expected to do some work. The office politics here belong to Joan, Dawn, Shirley, Peggy, and even Dee, Ted’s assistant over in Los Angeles."
I don't like that format, either. But maybe Todd's sick of commenters criticizing his Mad Men reviews (and him), and wants to share that love with Sonia.
Yes, Pumpkinjokes, how'd you miss Peggy's secretary, Shirley, in the last episode? Her banter with Ginsberg. Lou's calling her and the team "Gladys Knight and the Pips" and his telling her to "close the door, Nurse" (in a reference to the TV show "Julia", starring Diahann Carroll).
A commenter on Alan Sepinwall's Hitfix column thought Shirley and Phyllis were the same person! [The two women do not look alike at all: very different complexions, very different hairstyles and hair textures, very different features. And for those who still can't tell the difference, Shirley and Phyllis have…
Dawn the pawn. But I've been waiting for this kind of payoff for Dawn ever since that episode when Joan caught her punching Charlotte in, and then Dawn fessed up and followed up by pledging allegiance to Joan. Remember Joan's then giving Dawn control of the time cards? It was only a matter of time before Joan's…
You're onto something with the "Force Majeur" title. And to add to your observations - Sally noted how it was only the luck of the draw that prevented her having to ride the elevator with Sylvia.
It's a water bug. I think Don's apartment has a drip (which would attract water bugs), and like the broken sliding glass door, handy Don hasn't bothered to fix it himself nor has he bothered to get the building super in or to pay a handyman to fix it.
He's still getting paid, so it's not monetary. He's trying to cut down; had tried to go cold turkey the morning of the Hershey's pitch, but was trembling, and Ted told him not to go cold turkey.
Herb the Jaguar guy said she was built like a B-52.
That last sentence is exactly what the Japanese guys from Honda chuckled about when they met Joan in "The Chrysanthemum and the Sword": http://www.youtube.com/watc…
