I like this one. It seems very plausible if you read the backstory. The reason they don't have these crazy high end mechs is because a futuristic holocaust rendered all electronics obsolete, thus making them revert back to their sort of primitive gas powered mechs.

The only mecha that I've seen that are different from each other are Battletech, and Big O. Big O especially. Every damn gundam has some beam sword or something. I'm not saying they're bad, but they're just as generic as clunker VTs

So you want people to go out in blazing red colors and super stylized VTs? It's not Japan, these aren't mecha. Do you expect a tank in WW2 to roll out on the battlefield in the brightest shade of red with a beam sword?

Go play Hawken when it comes out. I think that's what it's called. I'uno. What you're asking for is Mecha, not battlemechs.
