I saw it at a film festival recently, and it was decidedly meh. I really wanted to like it, and I like what they were trying to do...but it just left me cold. It was intellectually interesting but I just didn't care about the characters.

Yeah, I mean it in the earlier sense. A judge should be disinterested but not uninterested, going by what I learned in school. If I accept that disinterested and uninterested now mean the same thing, then I have to accept that literally can now mean figuratively, and that's a step I'm not willing to take.
