Agreed 100% that Missy is underrated. She’s so amazingly talented. I can’t wait for a full album from her again.

Missy is a fucking genius.

We don’t deserve Missy Elliot. The one and only Queen of Hip Hop. The Grand Master of MC, The Dame of Dance, The One and True Heir of Beats, The Slayer of Fashion. Bow Down.

Missy Elliott’s first album was the last physical music CD I bought and it was a great choice to go out on. Her work stands up really well. Those kid dancers are all grown up by now and I’m sure they loved working with someone who is so well respected in the industry.

Re. Lady Gaga:

Fuck yeah! It’s awesome to see a forty-five-year-old woman do something like this (not being snarky here. I’m the same age as her, and I love it when women in our age group pull off amazing things like this). She’s also working on a documentary. Cannot wait to see that.

I loved this. Missy’s still out here making cool ass futuristic music. Always still ahead of the kids.

She’s been delivering the hotness for like TWENTY YEARS.

I’d love to read an article about Missy in relation to afro futrism and Black people in visions of science fiction and fantasy. Cause she’s definitely one of the pioneers. She’s a bit unsung as a visual artist, which she shouldn’t be cause she’s so singular.

The U.S. Social Security Administration estimated that in 2013 undocumented immigrants—and their employers—paid $13 billion in payroll taxes alone for benefits they will never get. They can receive schooling and emergency medical care, but notwelfare or food stamps.

Blame Hillary and her staff for running a bad campaign if you want to blame anyone. Or all the primary voters who voted for her even though she didn’t have a very good chance of winning the general.

My husband and I are compiling lists of countries that are good for expats if you want to move even further away. Sigh.

I have a distinct feeling that this got your blood pressure up, but mine’s rock steady at 116/65. brb, gonna go make popcorn. Pedants who respond to every comment because they’re incapable of not having the last word are the most fun to watch spin out.

I totally understand; I hope she finds happiness:

Y’all, there’s a lot of bad shit in this world lately, but it seems like every single day I wake up and there’s stories of badasses speaking truth and shouting names, and it is just the fucking best. You go on with your bad self, Constance Wu.

Constance Wu is a badass. Doing the thing your conscience tells you is right even if it could hurt you (career-wise, in this case) is honorable and beautiful and I am really impressed by her speaking up. I also agree with her re: Casey Affleck. What a turd.

She’s 18. I was a Republican at that age. We grow, we gain insight and experience, we evolve. She already had the wherewithal and support to get sober. I think she stands a decent chance of being okay.

Michael’s story breaks my heart. Here was this beautiful, charming, talented child who was used, abused, manipulated and emotionally damaged to the point at which he no longer knew who or what he was. Toward the end, it was as if he was incapable of making any adult decisions beyond what related to his music career,

You cannot tell if someone is Black by looking at them. I repeat, not all Black people look the same.
