It's not that he's mentally ill, it's that despite their promise to be honest with each other he lied to her about it. And seeing as he told her later about it, on a day when she made it clear she just couldn't deal with yet another thing, it's not like the illness made it impossible to talk about it. It was his

Tungusic folklore language?

Micheal wasn't raped by Virgil, it was John.

Thanks

Violence against a minor would totally help with that, of course.

Wait, smashing a stranger's borrowed phone on the ground isn't a normal way to communicate my anger?

Maybe Patti mentioning the magical negro trope wasn't just about the show acknowledging it, but also about showing why Kevin would believe him? That he's falling for that trope in his "real life"?

If Virgil was shot in the dick, he might just not be a sexual threat anymore. Plus, Micheal's not a young kid. Might be that he wouldn't have anything to fear from Virgil anyway, depending on how the dude's brain is miswired.

Think of the difference between a war movie that's about soldiers fighting, with explosions and battles and shit, and a war movie that's set after the actual fighting and dealing with the emotional fallout once civilian life resumes. The show's more like the latter.

Even if Kevin comes "back to life", it wouldn't be proof of anything supernatural (beyond the Departure, of course). We don't know what actually was in that glass he drank, that he was ever clinically dead, or that he wouldn't just recover given time anyway.
Virgil's a nutter; no reason to trust his word as evidence of

He doesn't deny the reality of the danger; he just doesn't share Carrie's paranoia about the German authorities. And after seeing Carrie's latest mental breakdown, there has to be at least a little part of him that wonders just how much of all this is just Carrie's delusion, or fallout from one of her paranoia-fueled

"They tried to make a go of it, but ultimately he wasn’t going to be able to stop judging her lifestyle."
Pointing out Carrie's swimming pool of bullshit isn't judging, it's just noting the facts. She created the life she leads. Not wanting to swim in her shit vortex is the only healthy choice one can make.

Well, I wish you the best for your current relationship.

This show seems to be oddly therapeutic.

No passing-out, crime-spree-inducing binge-drinking, then? :)

What reason to change (back?) does he have? Gretchen's with him because of how he is now.

Are you the Jimmy or the Gretchen, though?

Gretchen actively keeps Jimmy in the dark about the depth of her problems. Sure, he's an oblivious asshole, but that's part of what makes him attractive to Gretchen. She knew what she was getting when she chose him - someone who'd be too self-involved to pester her about a condition she takes great pains to hide

Why? They've both been extremely self-involved from the very pilot, and have made mutual emotional obliviousness into the bedrock of their relationship.

"It is as if they don't even think having them behave like human beings
with a life and thoughts is important compared to the 10subplots or
pointless crossovers to the MCU."
