It reads to me like the author of the review is (possibly unwittingly) establishing two sets of characters, with white characters in the one set, and people of color and aliens in the other.

As for gender politics: the reviewer calling the women "prostitutes"… uh, why? Two women strolling through a park in dresses and high heels are automatically whores?
