In my experience this varies a lot from place to place. At UK university libraries you can get borrowing privileges easily enough (and pretty cheap too), but you won't typically be given access to electronic databases which are usually restricted to enrolled students. Shame really.

This sounds great. Bet you were a real power-house at college:)

Also there's nothing to say you can't combine the advantages of a public/university library with your favourite white-noise generator piped through headphones. Noisli is great for this.

I'll probably save a little while longer and then splurge them extravagantly somewhere:)

It might not be pride as much as not having enough time to spend on reading. I love books myself but haven't read one cover to cover in more than a decade. I don't know that I'm much worse off for it, but I wish I could find more time in the day to fit it in.

Really nice tip. Like most habits this gets easier with practice.

Oh yeah, a nice mattress is a thing of joy. The firmer the better:)

For a long while now I've been pretty hitched to Wunderlist (which has gotten much better since its recent version 3 update), but Trello's a fantastic way to lay out projects visually.

Nice looking app. Anything equivalent on Android?

What kind of toys are you into?

Thanks for the tip-off Heather:) I've been collecting IHG points since February this year and they really rack up if you're clever about promotions and adding points to a stay. Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza are also really good about offering a complimentary upgrade if they see you've signed up to their loyalty

Nice analogy.

Yeah, I think you're right. I'm at the point of being intrigued enough by the Pi to pick one up but am far from being the kind of person who has extra, unused USB peripherals lying around.

Guilty:)

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks a lot for the input.

I love the idea of racking up frequent-flyer points for a travelling infant but it may vary from airline to airline. I recall finding that British Airways at least insisted that members were at least eighteen years old.

That's a fantastic looking barber-shop. Makes me miss having hair:)

Pagers: still sexy in 2014.

An interesting addition to what's becoming a more and more prominent trend among people who find the cult of connectivity to be overwhelming and unnecessary.

I really like this, but what's the difference between 'push' and 'persist'?
