I got rid of my manual because Chicago traffic sucks and it became a chore. Plus my car doesn’t come in a manual, so whatever. I’m sure plenty of other people here drive automatics as well.

SHOCKING: midsize, FWD sedan gets more power and doesn’t transform into a sports car. Who would’ve guessed!?

Oh really, 36K and this ?

Will beat anything in its class on the track.

And yet, people bought Jaguars and Land Rovers with worse quality for more money for years.

I think most of us are still making a similar wage to what we were in 2003

1st & Neutral - California wins, easily. Even if the party of treason somehow manages to win a court fight over carb setting their own limits, California will find another way to set them. And there are plenty of ways. Example - 10K tax on any vehicle not meeting pre-traitor emissions targets.

Because if you have a 120V outlet at home and/or charging at work, “fueling” an electric car is easier than getting gas for many people.

Or carmakers could show some fucking leadership and initiative and develop vehicles that exceed the highest standards without being bullied into by a government? Then we could all have cleaner air and less of this Trump vs California rubbish.

Republicans in a nutshell: Abortion, gun rights, healthcare? States should control it. Trying to make the world a better place and reduce pollution? States can’t control that separately, that’s a federal case! Fucking hypocrites the whole lot.

California has had its own air quality authority for half a century. Suddenly it’s an emergency.

1st gear - Like Granny Pig used to say, be careful what you wish for.

@neutral: whoever wins, we lose.

I as fond of old classic cars as much as the next person, but more so when they are parked though. Conversely, on occasion, when I drive behind one, I know I’m being briefly poisoned while I admire it’s beauty and style. Subsequently, when we part ways, I take the time to internally thank CARB (and the old EPA) for

heightened emotionality

I would too. It’s very unlikely you drive a car like this in any kind of ‘sporty’ way, other than quick acceleration. So what’s the point of a 5000+ crossover that pretends to be sporty? It’s a boat of a car either way, might as well pick the truly comfortable car without the pretense. Most will be sufficiently quick

Tesla has been paying bills for over a decade.

Five dollars says your as-tested example, translated to US-dollars, would cost over $105K with all of the added equipment. You can double the price of a Porsche rather easily.

And let’s remember Porsche is going electrified in a big way, with hybrid variants of this, the Panamera, more than likely the next-generation 911, and the fully electric Mission E—a supposed Tesla-killer—coming soon.
