Yes definitely for the better as it turned me into a devout DUNE and sci-fi fan for life. My mom took me to see it thinking it was just another one of those "Star Wars" movies. She promptly fell asleep while I sat there watching the screen like little Alex in a Clockwork Orange.

I saw DUNE in the theater when I was 9. That scene...changed me, in ways I still feel today.
