Dumb “controversies” like this one are way there’s so little representation for LGBT people. It’s just so, so much easier to just not touch it at all, and stick to the status quo. These are inherently controversial issues, so just broaching them is guaranteed to cause a shitstorm.

It’s not that it’s a bad thing. The issue is that the hypothetical restaurant is claiming social justice points (“we respect all cultures”) for doing something that’s obviously in their financial interests (most of their customers are likely Spanish-speaking so they stand to make money by catering to that).

If they film/edit/broadcast each week in succession (which makes more sense to me) then the editors couldn’t have known Candice…
