Sansa’s got a lot of potential but she’s completely untested. Frankly none of the candidates listed should be ruling the Seven Kingdoms.

What is that gif from? It looks fun.

“Accusing female” and “defending male varsity athlete” just say so much about how sexual assault cases are treated.

Well, guess we’re all sexists because no form of thought can be held without it being tainted by sexism huh?

I’m not sure why you mentioned rape culture. It’s got nothing to do with devaluing and policing women’s speech patterns other than that it is also a facet of the general misogyny in our culture.

Have you considered why you find those particular modes of speech obnoxious? The thing about an unconscious bias is that it is unconscious; it can take a bit of digging to understand that it’s there. Why do you have negative associations with those modes of speech?

The fact that they made the game in no way means they know why people find it fun. Sure, they had an idea of what makes the Pokemon IP fun but that idea is not some ultimate truth.

May I ask why you’re very anti-vandalism?

That’s an aspect of the Trump/Drumpf thing I hadn’t considered. No snark: thanks for the reminder that I need to apply my principles to everyone, even if they’re assholes.

There’s a German word for everything! If there isn’t one already, you can just mash some words together to make one.

If you ever decide to try Atwood again I would say try Cat’s Eye or Alias Grace. They’re pretty different from The Handmaid’s Tale and Oryx and Crake (I haven’t read Surfacing so I can’t compare). The Blind Assassin is also pretty different but I didn’t much care for it so I can’t in good conscience recommend it.

I have no problem with “female cop” as long as “male cop” is also used so we don’t have “cops” and “female cops”. “Woman cop” sounds weird...

Reasonable people can have different interpretations. Your original post indicated, to me and apparently others, that why she drank it was a vital piece of information for this story because it was a factor in the crimes. That that wasn’t what you meant doesn’t change what came across, just like how my not feeling

Wanting more information is natural but focusing on the victim’s actions without any more information is unhelpful. From this article and the Chicago Tribune one, it seems the only information available is that the victim made that statement. If we persist in guessing about why she drank the soda that indicates that

It’s my favorite criminal profile: probably white, definitely male.

“Possession with intent to distribute” is based on the fact that the father had drugs on him in a quantity that indicated they were for more than personal use. Whether he intended to give the drugs away or sell them doesn’t matter for that charge although it might matter for other related charges or sentencing. If the

The father has been charged with “possession with intent to deliver” because he had 22 pills on him at the time of arrest; that charge has nothing to do with whether the victim knowingly and/or willingly took the drug.

Since there is no way to respond to “don’t get defensive” without sounding defensive—“I’m not being defensive” itself sounds defensive—I tried to indicate that I have no intention of being defensive unless you offend me in some way, which has not yet happened (although implying that I’m an “über earnest baby feminist”
