Having a gun for protection makes so much more sense when there is an actual threat to your life than a perceived one.

Stalking is the same threat and intent at a different stage of escalation. If the damn police have to wait till someone with murderous intent has already broken into your house to take it seriously, women will continue to live in fear because of ineffective laws.
