I thought Herman's Head—which I enjoyed greatly because the premise was (to me) highly original, and there are episodes that really work but the writing took an epic nosedive towards the end of the run—was basically forgotten over the past two decades. I haven't tried really hard, but the only copies I found a

Wow it's been decades since I've thought about L'Engle, I can't even remember anything about this book. My point was towards the premise more than the sequence, but your point is relevant and well-taken.

Interesting citation, never heard of The Numskulls before.

No, but they should have acknowledged the prior art.

Stealing, drawing inspiration from, the line is vague. Some form of acknowledgment from Pixar would be appropriate.

A citation to go along with your assertion would be nice. And "controlling" is definitely the wrong characterization.

Except that the core concept of Herman's Head was outrageously out-of-the-box at the time and I hadn't seen it copied that time. As for the comparisons holding up, they don't align perfectly but they are certainly quite similar.

In my lifetime, twp come to mind but still fall short: Dukakis blowing a substantial lead in 1988. and Bush 41 failing to ride his popularity after Desert Storm to re-election.

I've yet to see it in the lead-up to its release. I haven't been all over every thread, but it certainly wasn't in this one until I put it there.

McGovern carried Massachusetts, Mondale took Minnesota (his home state) and DC—so by electoral votes, Mondale was the biggest loser.

Hang in there. When the IT sector busted in April 2001 it took me over three years to get another full-time job. The best advice I got from my career mentors: don't get jaded or cynical, and persist without pestering.

Sounds dreadful.

He has the bully demographic, which is a significant portion of the American public.

I find it odd that no one has called out this movie for essentially stealing its premise from the TV show Herman's Head, which had many flaws but also many funny moments and a few funny actors (Azaria, Yeardley Smith, and some guest stars who went on to serious success).

Forgot about that. Yeah I hate the DH, it's an abomination.

I'm planning to re-watch Beavis and Butthead and Robot Chicken. No way am I going out in the August heat.

10 positions? Has he confused softball for baseball?

yeah yeah, but they've been conflated for over a century so nit-picking gets you nowhere.

August always is, unfortunately.

Though the monologue material is good, what I found off-putting (outside of his constant laughing at himself) was his body language—it's like he doesn't know what to do with his hands. He's much better delivering jokes behind a desk.
