Ah yes, the “it was legal therefore they shouldn’t be punished” defense. They would have been expelled from a public school for being Nazis, too. High school students don’t have the same protections under the First Amendment as everyone else.

There are plenty of whites who keep their opinions quiet in mixed political company, but I’ve never seen someone profess to be “liberal” and then reveal themselves to be super racist, sexist, and homophobic. I’ve seen people who haven’t questioned their own prejudices in every possible case at all times.
