Can we not make this a thing please? Not even a thinkpiece type of thing? There’s no mystery here, and it doesn’t take investigative journalism to see this is clearly a small child being coached by overbearing stage parents to perform an annoying, badly Blaccented, not very clever character. This is cringeworthy at

I think his being a victim should be treated separately and not related to his being a misogynist and a sexual harasser.

Carmen Machado is on fire with the tweets— I’m saving this one for the NEXT sixty or seventy articles we’ll get about some man going on his Redemption Tour, after being outed as an abuser/rapist/creep/etc. And for the next eighty or ninety articles we’ll get about “What do women really want out of #MeToo, anyway? I am a Dominican American and this infuriates me.

I love Oscar Wao, but probably not for the reasons intended. My book group read it a couple of years ago and we spent a lot of time talking about how it exposes the bullshit justification for toxic masculinity. It probably wasn’t intentional because there’s righteousness to the male characters that doesn’t make

So yup, his big confession about being raped as a child was a preemptive strike to make people feel sorry for him and go easy on him as all of these stories come out. What a manipulative move.

I have to admit that I am not surprised either 😞

Exactly, what makes people think that their comfort is more important than a whole group’s freedom. I swear, the most pervasive fear in the world is having to think before saying or doing something. “Oh no, I might have to pause a minute and reconsider my headlong sprint into some fuckboi shit!”

“Kanye saying he didn’t want Harriet Tubman on money because of slavery ...”

I’ll let the stick figure and the cartoon explain to people who are still unclear...

Exactly. Like when I say that Solange is the more interesting Knowles and Latoya and Latavia did nothing wrong. I am fully prepared to be stalked and murdered by The Hive.

^Please yesss

I went to undergrad at Xavier in New Orleans, and while Hurricane Katrina may have temporarily sank my school beneath the waters, something in me knew that I was supposed to be there. One of the first things I did when it was possible to return in the aftermath was to help gut houses in the Lower Ninth Ward. Most were

Uh, yes. Kim Tweeted about how unfair and mean it was for people to speculate about his mental health issues, even though he’s alluded to them in his music before and his behavior is alarmingly consistent with an unmedicated bipolar disorder sufferer in a manic phase.

Jfc that sounds exactly like respectability politics.
