After only finishing AC1 & AC2, I’ve got a long way to go before I can be fully familiar and entrenched regarding the AC universe and lore.

I wouldn’t consider those kind of people you’re referring to as ”stupid” per se, maybe more on the lines of “impatient w/ an appetite for more“ “instant gratification hunters” at best. It makes more financial sense for someone to purchase the GOTY version, but not all people think alike like you do.
