I’m not even sure I have clarified what my position is with enough clarity that I could openly defend it. I just know it doesn’t look anything like the author’s position, nor the author’s straw-man of the opposing position.

It isn’t that hard. But it becomes almost untenable when you instantly characterize someone with a differing opinion as someone who “has never cared about women’s athletics” “Just hates fags” “clutches their bibles” etc. etc.

To me the least offensive way to handle this is to have a third, unisex division.  I’m not a hater, but I don’t get it.  Sexual appropriation is okay but racial appropriation is bad?

I am curious whether it is possible to have a good faith debate about this or, if it is so charged and everyone is so entrenched in their positions, if it isn’t.

I’m all for sticking it to hypocritical conservatives, and I’m all for leaving people the hell alone and letting them be whomever they feel they are. However, this relatively new dynamic of trans-women competing in women’s sports is pretty much the greyest of grey areas.
