I don’t know why Lebron and/or the Lakers felt the need to put this out there, I’m quite sure JR already knew the score.

This disguised tampering is getting ridiculous. If you want to go to the Chiefs just say it.

Moore was charged with third-degree aggravated assault

Thank you for your service”

But he stood on her throat and didn't kneel, right?

Think of all the cash and cars he can win barnstorming half-time shows at basketball games.

Yep, nailed it. Starred.

July 12, 2026, is exactly seven years from now.

Fuck and Yes.

Yeah, and while I am of the mindset “don’t blow up a very good team because anything can happen”, and I think Westbrook-George was good enough to hang on and keep trying with... once George wanted out, that was it.

You know what really ‘hurts the fanbase’?  Stealing a team and moving it to Oklahoma.

What’s also missing here is that the team can trade the picks for players later on, when they feel that the team is gaining steam. And they become very valuable if the team is garbage in the short run.

A lot of people overlearned this lesson, but competitive windows are real! Like, this Thunder team was not going to win a title, nor were they going to get close. Looking at last year’s standings, I think, even with PG and Russ, they may well have missed the playoffs this year. Nothing is particularly lost by blowing

Also — who among us was excited for the Thunder’s season next year? I want as many exciting or at least risky/dramatic/experimental teams at the top as possible, because the playoffs are what’s exciting. I do not mourn the loss of a 39 win team, and at least their fans now have the future to be excited about.

Who are you, my mutual fund sales rep?

I agree with the underlying sentiment of this, but, I dunno, there’s a lot of wishful thinking in here. What, exactly, are the Thunder supposed to do? They weren’t going to win shit this year with or without Russ and/or Paul George. I guess you could basically do the Russ/Chris Paul trade and hold on to Paul George,

The dominance, draw and success of LA and NY is also being overstated.

“Seven years is an absurdly long time, especially in sports. But everyone involved in this trade...”

Maybe they should have sought out a trade that would give them actual, tangible talent in exchange for their centerpiece point guard.

There is something fundamentally wrong with player contracts maxing out at 5 years (and the trend for most being essentially 3-year deals) while a team can trade picks that are 7 years out.
