“There’s no point acting all surprised about it. All the planning charts and demolition orders have been on display in your local planning
department in Alpha Centauri for fifty of your Earth years, so you’ve had plenty of time to lodge any formal complaint and it’s far too late to start
making a fuss about it

The gray-beard master tech saw me struggling to do that once. He unbolted the front engine mount strut, rocked the car back and forth, and stabbed the parking brake with the engine tilted forward. All three rear plugs were staring right up at me.

I think you’re looking for “draft horse”:

how you gonna just snatch a brotha’s chain like that.

Maybe it is a larger family and the Tahoe will allow them to fit everyone in one vehicle, while an Echo, Yaris or Tercel wouldn’t? Maybe they use it for work and they need the space to haul around work supplies?

That’s the technical term, I’m sure.

At some point their aged demographic will disappear.

Way to insult a regular hard working guy stuck in a traffic backup on the US side of the border, not in the protest on the canada side. Read more better, beef man.

Dont worry my friend.  I too made the shift in life from cheesy pickup lines on my wife to dad jokes for the kids. The kids say their lame but I’ve caught the wifey’s expression and she loves them.

Rotten eggs will just get cleaned up by the help.  It will cost Bezos nothing and screw over those workers but yeah if it makes you feel better I guess.

Well if I’m to understand the commenters from last week regarding self driving running stop signs, Tesla has to allow the cars to hit stuff occasionally, because that’s what real drivers do.

To me the best show even quasi-linked to Cars recently is Clarkson’s Farm. It’s got the typical “let’s watch Clarkson screw things up” thing that made Top Gear so good for so long. But it’s more than just watching an aging guy take a shot to the plums from an upset sheep.

I was an editor on this series on and off for a few seasons. It was very challenging. Everyone thinks that TGUK just naturally sprung up like that, with the incredible chemistry between the hosts. Andy Wilman and crew played with the hosts and format for literally years before he hit the right formula. And here we

Here’s the thing with American Top Gear: It actually got decent after everyone stopped watching. In the early days? It was trying way, way too hard to be like the original and could not pull it off. Plus, it was clear that the cast didn’t really know each other and had a very hard time playing off of each other.

Julie Kenar, GfK’s senior vice president of mobility consulting, said the difference is most likely due to the high number of auto workers living in the Midwest.

Agreed on both. I actually tuned in to one of the street race shows earlier this week (no idea which one) out of boredom and after a few minutes it became clear I was supposed to know the people on it and have some sort of connection to them, like a fan. Nothing to do with the cars, pure soap opera. And of course

I am sometimes guilty of giving people driving etiquette reeducations on the highway. If i get a chance to pin an aggressive driver into a deep right lane backup I will. I love to bait the guys who are weaving in and out of lanes to get stuck behind something slow.

Really amazed at the “both-sides-ism” here.

The fact that a person can actually perceive complex ethical decisions, and acknowledges that good governance occasionally means having to make hard decisions because they’ll benefit the greatest number of people doesn’t make a person a ‘sociopath’.
